wasting water is damaging our world
Wasting Water within your household is a more significant issue than the cost of the monthly water bill. While wasting household water doesn’t remove water from the global cycle, it does remove it from the portion of clean, recycled water that is currently accessible to humans. In addition to this, excess water is a waste of energy and resources used to process, recycle and deliver that fresh water. According to “Water in Crisis” by Peter H. Gleick, only 0.77% of the water available on earth is fresh and in liquid form. The other 99.23% is in salty lakes and seas, frozen as ice, or in the atmosphere. Wasting water does not directly hurt the environment, since wasted water is not destroyed, it, however, hurts humans as it leaves us with less accessible water. According to Forbes, “wasting water in a country where it may appear water just magically comes out of the tap (i.e. Canada, the U.S., most developed countries), is wasting a precious, vital resource that millions (663 million, according to Water Facts: Facts About the Global Water Shortage) don’t even have clean, safe access to.”
